NEW YORK 鈥� A New York City police officer and at least two others were killed during a shooting inside a Midtown Manhattan office building that houses some of the nation鈥檚 top financial firms, .
The shooting unfolded around 6:30 p.m. Monday at a Park Avenue high-rise that houses companies including Blackstone and the National Football League headquarters. that 鈥渢he scene has been contained and the lone shooter has been neutralized.鈥�
The suspect was identified as Shane Tamura, of Nevada, according to the Associated Press. He fatally shot himself, according to the report.
The officer was working an off-duty job as a security officer at the building when he was fatally shot. He is assigned to the Bronx, .
Footage from the scene showed office workers evacuating with their hands raised as officers secured the building. The FDNY confirmed emergency crews responded to reports of a person shot.
In a post on X, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said agents were assisting at what he described as an 鈥渁ctive crime scene.鈥� Mayor Eric Adams urged residents and visitors in Midtown to remain indoors as authorities responded to the unfolding incident.
