NEW YORK 鈥 The Empire State Building鈥檚 lights will shine yellow, white, and blue in honor of EMS week, for the 15th consecutive year.
The illuminated display, a partnership with the FDNY, will also feature the signature heartbeat effect at sunset, on Sunday, May 21.
Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh stated that the upcoming week is to recognize and celebrate 鈥渢he exceptional work of our skilled EMTs and Paramedics who serve our city. They handle over 1.6 million emergency calls annually, providing vital medical assistance to New York residents and visitors. The courageous members of FDNY EMS are experts in their field and play a crucial role in ensuring our city鈥檚 safety.鈥
Aside from recognition, EMS Week also promotes public safety to New Yorkers, attracts potential EMS recruits, and celebrates the life-saving efforts that more than 4,400 members of the service have conducted.
