In celebration of National EMS Week 2025, the International Association of EMS Chiefs is calling on communities, policymakers and partners to take time to recognize the vital role emergency medical services professionals play in the fabric of public health and safety.
In a proclamation released by the association, EMS professionals — from paramedics and EMTs to dispatchers, field supervisors and educators — are commended for their commitment to delivering care under some of the most challenging and high-pressure circumstances.
“EMS stands as a critical component of public safety and healthcare, delivering lifesaving care with speed, skill and compassion to all who need it, regardless of age, background, income or circumstance,” the statement reads.
This year’s EMS Week theme, “We Care. For Everyone.”, underscores the universal mission of EMS: to treat each patient with dignity, every colleague with respect and every community with unwavering dedication.
The proclamation also highlights the leadership of EMS chiefs in building resilient systems and innovative care models, ensuring that providers are supported and empowered to serve.
“The legacy of EMS is built not only on clinical excellence and rapid response, but on the profound humanity of those who serve, those who run toward danger, who stay with the vulnerable and who care without condition or hesitation,” the proclamation states.
National EMS Week, observed annually in May, provides an opportunity to spotlight the contributions of EMS providers across the country. The association calls on all to use this week not only to celebrate but also to recommit to the values that define the profession.
“Let this week serve as a time to uplift our teams, honor their sacrifices and recommit ourselves, as leaders and as a profession, to the promise at the heart of EMS: We care. For everyone.”
