A person 鈥鈥 led rescuers to a man on an 鈥渋sland鈥 in the middle of a river, Texas officials said.

The patient was 鈥渨alked out of the situation鈥 by rescuers, Austin-Travis County EMS reported on X, formerly known as Twitter. Upon rescue, he was treated for hypothermia and transported to the hospital by medics.

Between the morning of Sunday, Jan. 14, and noon Monday, Jan. 15, the department , KXAN reported.

the body鈥檚 temperature drops below 95 degrees, according to Mayo Clinic.

Shivering is usually the first thing someone will notice when their body temperature begins to drop, but other symptoms include mumbling and slurred speech, shallow breaths, a slow pulse, low energy and lack of coordination, according to Mayo Clinic.
