NEW BEDFORD, Mass. 鈥 A New Bedford EMS crew went above and beyond for an elderly couple on the first call in a 24-hour shift during a snowstorm.

Andrea Garcia and her partner, Alan Kocak, responded to an elderly couple鈥檚 home in South End on Feb. 6, reported.

鈥淲hen we were there, we noticed that the wife, who was not the patient, was just a little bit distraught about the situation,鈥 Garcia said. 鈥淪he was nervous.鈥

After Garcia and Kocak took care of the patient, they wanted to do more to help and offered to shovel the driveway.

Garcia said that it is easy to get discouraged, but going above and beyond keeps her moving.

鈥淭here are times that I鈥檓 like 鈥榃hy did I pick this job鈥 especially if we are super busy, Garcia said. 鈥淎nd then when I did that, I was like 鈥榯his is why I picked this job.鈥欌
