WASHINGTON 鈥 Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was on Tuesday following what the agency said was an allergic reaction.

鈥淪he was transported to the hospital out of an abundance of caution. She is alert and recovering,鈥 confirmed Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. She did not say what caused the reaction.

CNN spotted at several entrances outside the emergency room where the 53-year-old was admitted.

Noem is regularly due to her high-stakes work with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement as the Trump administration tries to make good on its promise to focus on migrant deportations.

Her security detail , D-Calif., when he tried to press Noem on her work in Los Angeles last week as protests erupted in reaction to federal agents鈥 handling of the matter.
